For Professional Advisors

For more than sixty years, The Columbus Foundation has worked closely with professional advisors to help donors achieve their philanthropic goals. Donor Services staff is available to meet with advisors and their clients to create a giving strategy customized to their philanthropic interests and their financial and estate planning. A broad range of charitable giving vehicles are available.

Work through you.
You stay in control of your client relationships; we’re here to help you serve your clients’ charitable giving needs. We offer many ways that your clients can open a fund by accepting many different types of gifts from appreciated property to various estate gifts.

Partner with you. We provide support, information, and expertise related to charitable giving options. We offer detailed client focused illustrations, professional advisor-focused resources in our Knowledge Center, and GiftLaw®—a web-based gift planning tool for professional advisors interested in charitable gift planning strategies. Or you can schedule a time for us to meet with you and your client to discuss their charitable interests.

Help you build stronger relationships. We can help you build relationships; respond to community needs; and sustain, strengthen, and improve quality of life in our community through your corporate giving or to develop a corporate giving program.

Studies show that many highnet worth individuals expect to talk about charitable giving as they make financial plans with their advisors. They will appreciate the charitable impact and tax advantages you help them achieve by working with a community foundation.

We have created a Professional Council as an advisory body of local experts in the financial world, including attorneys, accountants, and financial advisors.

Help you connect generations.
When you help families establish Donor Advised or Family Funds at our community foundation, you begin an ongoing process of involvement with current and future generations. We offer a full range of fund types that allow customized giving to support your client’s favorite nonprofits or causes.

Find out if giving through The Columbus Foundation is right for your clients by asking these one or more of these questions:
  • Do I have clients who care deeply about their local community?
  • Do they give to more than one charitable cause?
  • Are they interested in creating a personal or family legacy in their community?
  • Are they considering the creation of a private foundation, but concerned about cost and administrative complexity?
  • Would they like to stay personally involved in the use of their gift dollars?
  • Do they want to receive maximum tax benefit for their charitable contributions under federal law?
  • Do they place a priority on sound financial management of their contributions?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your clients would benefit from knowing more about The Columbus Foundation. We'd be happy to help you make an introduction.

If you have any questions, contact a member of our Donor Services team at 614/251-4000 or by e-mail. We'll respond to you within the next business day.
